Regional SCADA Configuration

Adsyst Automation Ltd expanded to support clients with ClearSCADA configuration for private pumping stations and district metering.

The Background:

Our client supplies drinking water to parts of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, North East Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Suffolk. They currently provide water for 2.6 million properties across the UK. Having recently replaced their top-end area SCADA with Schneider’s ClearSCADA, Adsyst has assisted with continued development works.

The Challenge:

The challenge for our client was to continue with operational project commitments alongside the ongoing programme of replacing their existing top-end SCADA, which lacked functionality and the ability to interoperate with other corporate systems within the organisation.

Adsyst provided specialist ClearSCADA engineering assistance to configure SCADA for new private pumping stations and district metering, this would be over 5 years.

The Solution:

Adsyst has integrated into our client’s and sub-contractor teams to help deliver the works necessary to add new telemetry outstations and private pumping stations as well as continually making improvements. As a result of this continued close working relationship and openness, Adsyst decided in January 2017 to expand and open a new local office to better support our client. The key objective was to build a team that would continue the successful delivery of projects and offer a local, responsive partner for all the ClearSCADA and other PLC Systems Integration requirements.

Adsyst currently has several engineers embedded into the client’s on-site project teams configuring SCADA for the Private Pumping Station, DMS and other project requirements. We have increased in numbers and will continue to be a dedicated collaboration of the project team. This of course is in addition to our continued delivery of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems for the replacement of unsupportable equipment.

The Results:

This project delivered a new, integrated solution that supports the industry's move towards IT and OT (including ERP) convergence and provides the foundation for further business improvement. Our client can now support future advancements and use its platform as the foundation of its key business and operational objectives for the future.

Opening a new office gives Adsyst the chance to show how versatile an organisation we can be and that we are very open to change. We want to make sure our clients get the best of the Engineers so using local resources means our Engineers are not travelling nationally. They can be on-site at short notice and be more cost-effective reducing project costs to our client and reducing CO2 impact due to less car mileage.

Coupled with the closer cooperation with on-site Engineers the quality of our service is set to rise and the costs to this client are set to reduce over the coming years. Through this continued collaboration and delivery we desire that the client view Adsyst as their primary partner for all systems integration requirements.
